"FAN REVIEWS!
March
3, 2008
Fan review from the Atlanta, GA show!
"Rumors"
was a good play
from start
to finish.
All actors and actresses were really into their
character and made the play as real as they
could. Even in certain scenes JD Lawrence made a
joke about one of the audience members (LOL) and
interacted with the audience a few times. The
play had a good storyline and the music went
along well with the play. It lasted for about 3
hours. Everybody in the audience seemed to have
enjoyed the play, so I think this play will be
back soon.
LeToya
did her thing tonight. She has proven that she
is talented yet again, but this time she
took it to
another level.
Her acting was a 10/10, her singing was a 10/10
and you already know she looked GOOD. Like
everybody who has seen her in person always say
pictures do her NO justice when it comes to
seeing her in person, that’s the truth.
Toya ain't going nowhere,
and after seeing her tonight I know that for
sure. Toya name was in everybody's mouths saying
all positive things. LeToya will be
at the TOP
very
soon. I got a chance to meet Toya and her
family, Ced, TR, and the rest of the team behind
Toya. Everybody was cool. Her mother and
grandmother are the nicest people you could
meet, on the real. They thanked me for the
support and I also got a chance to chill with
them backstage in V.I.P. too.

"[I] slowed it down, told my girl I miss her. I been on the
road for two months. We kissing through the phone on there
and everything. ... Me, I'm me. I ain't gonna sit here and
be like, 'I'm a G, man! Anybody f--- with me, I'mma cut 'em!'
And I ain't gonna sit here and put no tie on either. I'm

"FAN REVIEWS!
February
25, 2008
Check out these recent reviews from the New Haven, CT and
Richmond, VA shows!
"Rumors"
was evocative, realistic, spirit-filled,
profoundly well written and bursting with
unforgettable side splitting lines! The entire
cast did
an amazing
job
breathing life into their characters. Overall,
the story line entertained love, life, family
dysfunction, relationships, and personal
reflection. Unity, loyalty, friendship, and the
perils of interracial dating surfaced time
again. The storyline touched on sensitive issues
plaguing communities, in particular
self-destructive behaviors, and the “N” word.
The moral was if only we knew our history…
"Rumors" is
a must-see for the ages. It is an
insightful learning experience about love, life,
and people drama...
LeToya (Michelle/Peaches) was quite impressive
and convincing in her debut stage play. Vocally,
I can’t even front . I was
wowed by her LIVE
vocal control, range, confidence, and delivery!
She executed with poise and finesse like I’ve
never seen her do before. Tone
deaf my a**!!! LeToya IS
a triple
threat!
Singer, Actor, Entrepreneur!
I went
to go see Rumors last night...And let me just
say this play both
shocked
and
amazed
me!
...the play itself was a really funny,
compelling black play. JD Lawrence is like a
less popular Tyler Perry. I actually found
myself laughing out loud on several occasions. I
felt like the singing was well balanced...In
"Rumors"
I felt like
all the solos were well placed, and actually fit
the story line.
SHE
[LeToya] KILT IT!
She must've been working with an acting coach or
something because she was so natural. She really
transformed into her character. Michelle was a
well spoken, college educated, BEAUTIFUL black
girl. She definitely has a future in
acting...Vocally I was
BLOWN AWAY!
I cannot believe the amount of growth she's
attained! She didn't go flat, she had excellent
breath and vocal control, and she was soooooo
emotive! I was really wowed.
She sang 3 songs, and JD Lawrence even found a
way to work "Torn" into the play while
maintaining relevancy. She SANG THE SHIG-GIDDY!
OUT OF TORN! ...If anyone gets a chance to go
this play
PLEASE GO!

LeToya has been booked! No word if LeToya will be in the

LeToya will be doing three phone interviews today
on the following stations. Unfortunately, only V-103 allows
you to listen online. If you are in the areas where you can
hear it live, please tune and let us know how it was!
TIME:
12:00 Noon
STATION: WKJS - (Richmond, VA) with
DJ DeDe
An original member of the musical group Destiny’s Child
today gave an inspirational and at times tear-filled pep
talk to students at Poughkeepsie High School.
LeToya Luckett told
students of Poughkeepsie High School vocal music educator
Ceista Little-Quinn how Destiny’s Child can trace its roots
to an ensemble of 14 girls, the youngest of whom was 8; that
evolved into groups of six, then four; and after Luckett’s
departure, three. She described how the ensemble that
evolved into Destiny’s Child sang at talent shows and
grocery stores. Once, while onboard an airplane, the girls
sang the national anthem over the public address system.
The girls were finally “discovered,” she said, while singing
at an event called Black Expo in Houston. "We gave our all
at that show," she said. "The little things that are going
on in the city," she said of Poughkeepsie, "sign up for
them. If they don't provide them for you, do it yourself."
On singing and performing, Luckett said, “At 4 years old,
that was my passion. That’s what I wanted to do.” As for her
success, Luckett said, “I was in the right place, at the
right time. You never know who is going to be watching.”
Luckett was at Poughkeepsie High School with the author and
fellow cast members from “Rumors,” a nationally touring
musical scheduled for tonight in Albany. The “Rumors”
entourage — including Telma Hopkins from Tony Orlando and
Dawn, “Bosom Buddies” and “Family Matters” — was at
Poughkeepsie High School thanks to Poughkeepsie resident
Derek Wilson, who has worked for Usher and Whitney Houston
and is now working with the production of “Rumors.”
Luckett caused a major buzz
among the students, who snapped pictures with cameras and
cell phones throughout the talk. Luckett declined a request
to sing, saying she had to save her voice for the
performance. However, she and her castmates seemed to enjoy
the performance given just for them by the Poughkeepsie High
School Concert Choir. Jaddah Haylett, a 16-year-old junior
and aspiring singer, said she “listened to everyone.” “It
was good,” she said. “I enjoyed it.”
JD Lawrence, who wrote “Rumors” and has worked with LL Cool
J and Alicia Keys, was as inspirational a speaker as
Luckett. He told the students about overcoming a speech
impediment to find success in the entertainment industry. “I
didn’t wait for anyone to open the door for me,” Lawrence
said. “I built my own house and opened my own door.”
"RUMORS" UPDATE / DARIUS FALLS!
February
20, 2008
Actor Darius McCrary is recovering after a bad fall from the
stage during a performance with the touring stage play,
'Rumors,' in Dayton, Ohio.
The former 'Family Matter's' star is staring alongside
singer LeToya Luckett, comic George Wilborn, actress Telma
Hopkins ('Half & Half') and comedian Gary Owen in the
production created by playwright J.D. Lawrence.
The 31-year-old former child star was backstage in between
scenes during the show standing on an elevated part of the
set and leaned forward while speaking to Wilborn. McCrary
then plunged from the platform, landing on his back with his
legs in the air.
"It happened so fast, man. I was talking to George and the
next thing I knew was that I was on my back with this big
wood two-by-four between me," McCrary told me via cell phone
from Michigan, where he was recovering.
The actor said he didn't break anything, but suffered a lot
of tissue bruising and extreme pain in his lower back.
"The pain I am in is worse than the pain I felt after my
snowboarding accident," he said.
McCrary was rushed the hospital following the accident and
is now temporarily walking with a cane.
'Rumors' cancelled two shows following the actor's fall
and singer Tony Terry is being brought in to temporarily
fill in for McCrary. He hopes to be back onstage by the time
the play hits Richmond, Virginia on Feb. 24.
"RUMORS" / "MEET & GREET" REVIEW!
February
16, 2008
JD Lawrence Urban Theater’s New King of Dramedy
Urban theater mania returned this weekend to the Music Hall
Center for the Performing Arts. Despite the inclement
weather African American theatergoers attended the four-day
performance of the hit stage play Rumors. Also in attendance
for the first time, Caucasian patrons came out in groups to
witness JD Lawrence the man frequent patrons of the genre,
staff and media are calling Urban Theater's New King of
Dramedy. Rumors has to be one of the few productions that
consistently started and ended on time said one staff member
at the Music Hall.
The two hour and ten minute performance was cleverly
written, unpredictable, entertaining, hysterical and
ethnicity free. A winning combination that has not been
witness on this circuit before. The show-starred Family
Matters Darius McCrary and Telma Hopkins from Half and Half.
Also added to the mix is platinum recording artist
LeToya
Luckett who sings like an angel the songs, Torn and How Do
You Love Someone...

"RUMORS" / "MEET & GREET" REVIEW!
February
15, 2008
Here's a review from one of our Meet & Greet
contest winners!
So I
finally got to meet the one and only Ms. LeToya
Luckett and I must say she is very very very
beautiful!
Let me first start with the play...It was
awesome and I'll say if it's coming your way
then you need to go see it! Toya sang three
songs and blew me the hell away with them,
especially the last one. I was like Jesus Christ
this woman sure knows she can sing! LeToya did
an awesome job. She really blew me away. She did
it as if she'd been doing this her entire life.
She knew when to be scared, how to be nervous,
when to be sad, and when to be sassy.
About 15 min later we followed the tour director
and Toya through a very scary backstage area
which led down to a series of dressing rooms.
Toya hugged me and my girlfriend introduced us
to her assistant, and signed my ticket! I didnt
wanna hold her up because she had told me that
they had left her, her mother and her
grandmother before, and she also told me she
goes back to the studio March 4th. As a fan I
had to ask one thing...I asked if she'd sing me
an acapella and she did. She sang "She Don't" I
almost had a heart attack...Damn that girl can
sang.
If you have had the chance to check
"Rumors" out, please drop us a

"RUMORS" / "MEET & GREET" REVIEW!
February
5, 2008
Here's a review from one of our Meet & Greet
contest winners!
Toya was
amazin'! She really stole the show wit' her
style, swagger, beauty....and solos...and killed
everyone of them...the audience really loved
her. Well the play was great too. My meeting
with Toya was like 10-15 minutes long...when I
met her I was so speechless. She's
flawless...pics don't do her justice!!!!
She introduced herself to me....
and asked my name....and where I was from. I
answered. She then asked how long the drive was.
I told her 3 and half hours... she couldn’t
believe it. I asked for a photo and a autograph,
which she was more then happy to provide me
with....I was just thankful to actually meet
her, hug her...etc. IDK what else to say other
than....no matter how U guys have to see this
play....not just because Toya is in it, but
because of the message! The play isn’t a Tyler
Perry type play. JD is hilarious! Its has a more
contemporary vibe!!!

"Rumors" out, please drop us a

SYNOPSIS
JD Lawrence presents “RUMORS” the new thought provoking
stage play that will have you whispering in the aisle.
Inspired by actual events, "RUMORS" is packed with razor
sharp one-liners, fancy footwork, toe tapping tunes and a
mouth dropping twist that will blow you away. Set in the
heart of Brooklyn, Marcus (Darius McCrary) is the first
member in his family to attend medical school and has it
all, good looks, a promising career and an over protective
mother (Telma Hopkins) that will stop at nothing to rescue
her son from his new, estranged girlfriend Trina (Lisa D
Amato). Rumors start to fly when Trina announces she’s with
child and demands that the young doctor do the right thing,
but when Michelle (LeToya Luckett)
a childhood sweetheart from his past comes back to their
hometown, the right thing maybe the last thing the young
doctor has prescribed for himself. The story unfolds when
Marcus' best friend Keith (Gary Owen) learns Marcus is not
the father. Keith must now find a remedy of his own, betray
Trina the only woman he ever loved or conceal the truth from
his best friend Marcus. Written, Directed and starring Telly
award winner JD Lawrence in five hilarious roles. RUMORS
will spread big laughs, great songs and a story line with
substance from beginning to end.

ACCORDING TO JAWN JUICE...
January
16, 2008
Below is a post from entertainment reporter Jawn Juice, who
mentioned LeToya in a recent blog entry.
Speaking of Capitol Records, the label plans to
release original Destiny's Child member LeToya
Luckett's sophomore album, 'Lady Love,' in July
2008. The set includes production by heavy
hitters like Babyface, Teddy Bishop, Walter
Milsap, Bryan Michael Cox, Dr. Dre and Rodney
Jerkins. Luckett's debut record, 'LeToya,'
debuted at number one when it was released in
2006 and was certified platinum.
Although "Lady Love" has been floating around from blog
to blog and being called the "official" title of Toya's new
album, nothing has been finalized...not even the release
dates. When the details are finalized you know you'll find
out here!
